If the "data hosting" PC is connected to a local network (LAN), and the Engine/Dashboard software is installed, the data from one or more ECM-1240 devices may be viewed by other PCs connected to the network.
If the local network has an internet connection, the user may optionally setup the system to allow viewing from any internet connected browser.

ECM-1240 data packets are sent directly to a PC connected to a network using the computer's RS-232 or USB port.
OR

ECM-1240 data packets are sent to a PC via a TCP/IP network connection using an EP-1 (wired) or EB-1 (wireless) gateway.
Although the PC does not need to be running 24/7, load profile data and remote viewing will only be available when the "hosting" PC is running. The energy consumption data will still be accurate although the PC is not running, however the charting of energy used while the PC was down will be averaged once the PC is back up. It is also possible to forward data from the engine software to www.check-it.ca data hosting service to take advantage of the many features they offer.
