Single ECM-1240 device direct to a PC using wired communication

Options for communicating with a single ECM-1240 device via a computer port.

There are three methods of connecting the ECM-1240 communication directly to a PC:

  1. (RS-232) Connecting the ECM-1240's DB-9 cable to the RS-232 port of a PC (only older PCs now have the DB-9 RS-232 port)
  2. (USB) Using a "Serial to USB" adaptor to convert the RS-232 signal to USB.
  3. (Ethernet RJ-45) Using an EP-1 EtherPort gateway to send the RS-232 data directly to a computer's Ethernet port.
