Just installed (error pop-up)
Hi Everyone,
I just got my system up and running (GEM, DashBox) using Ethernet (CAT5) to DashBox. I have the Ethernet/Wi-Fi option for the GEM, but not using it at this time. The system is working GREAT!
So, when I click on the Firmware tab and hit SEARCH, I get an error message (see picture below).
Not sure as to what I am doing wrong.
Your thoughts,
Don

Hello Don,
You must be connected to the GEM to be able to retrieve the settings from the GEM. Top right where it says connection select open. Once that window turns green you will select *Get GEM Info* the system will then populate the data from the GEM from CT, COM / Engine firmware and hardware on board.

Re: Just installed (error pop-up)
Hello Don,
A couple things ensure the GEM is set to communicate at 115200 baud. You can verify and set this under the *Ethernet Only* tab where it says firmware / normal. When the radio button is set to normal ensure the baud rate is set to 115200 baud and select save.
If it is you can tab back to the firmware tab and select open. You may have to select the get GEM Info a few times.
A few error pop ups may appear just close and ignore them and press the get GEM Info until it connects.

Re: Just installed (error pop-up)
The GEM is connected to the DashBox using the STS cable, I do not have the Ethernet cable running to the GEM and I did not activate the GEM Wi-Fi.

Re: Just installed (error pop-up)
Hello Don,
Can you let me know what it is you wish to do? A couple things just in case its not known to you.
- Your firmware for COM & Engine are at the latest release.
- If you intend to simply poll the GEM as to what attributes are present in the GEM via the *GEM Network Tool*. You need only select *Connection -> Open*. Once the window turns green and indicates connected. You select the *Get GEM Info* tab and the network tool will retrieve all the settings in the GEM.
This process can take several taps of the connect / Get GEM Info tab. Also keep in mind anytime you connect to the GEM using the network tool it will interrupt the data flowing to the DB.
This has nothing to do with the Dash Box (DB). The tab I inquired about earlier regarding the baud rate is this one in the image capture below. If the settings look the same on yours this is perfect and confirms you're using the highest baud rate for the best connection.

Looks like it's just a port issue.
Port 80 runs the web server.
Port 8001 accesses COM1 on the DashBox.
Port 8002 accesses COM2 on the DashBox.

I have the GEM wired directly to the DashBox using COM2ben wrote: Don,

COM1: No Connections
When I powered up the system for the first time, that is how it was assigned.... 2 ports
Maybe, it assigns a port to the GEM's internet connection, even if I am not using it.

You should just have to do the following:Mustang65 wrote:I have the GEM wired directly to the DashBox using COM2ben wrote: Don,

In your screenshot, where it says "Port", change that from Port 80 to Port 8002 and you should be able to talk to the GEM.
