Ben also even enabling Captcha will not prevent these Russian to get in.

Just enable the registration by email sent to you .
I know it is a lost of work to manage those registration but
you need to make a choice.

Just blocking the IP does nothing for these spammer as they can get out on multiple network or IP.
It is easy to get another ip from any Service provider and then get access again.

THis is a serious issue.

Seems the Captcha hasn't made a difference. I just nuked four more spammers a few moments ago.

I moderate some of the largest websites on the Internet. I am completely at a loss as to why this site has been targeted for spam all of a sudden?

Its like an invitation has been sent all over the world.

I don't understand either, i think the spammer community knows when there is an easy site and the word must be spreaded among their group.

we will have to be vigilant for awhile

Strange i got my welcome message to activate my new test account "115" at 00h30 this morning . I created it friday night and should have received my message within 5 min. Still waiting for my corporate user "Allstream" that was created also friday.

Also all notifications for new topic or reply to this one that I am following got it after midnight. More than 24h lates.
i am suspecting his Bluehost.com host to have issue.

When i did order my Gem they had issues to send me emails because Bluehost was blocking them on outbound to my mrda.ca domain. So that probably what happen on friday registration!

weather update
-10c wind chill -18c this morning, yesterday wind chill of -22 most or the day with 40 kmph wind. The pellets stove is running 24h....
these days. Looks like we will have rain and +4 on wednesday.
