Our heat pump had been miss-installed/configured so that during the past three winter heating seasons it had been depending on the back-up heat strips (20 kilowatts of resistance heating) instead of using the the high efficiency heat pump. The Brultech monitor immediately revealed what was going on and once the system was reconfigured our electric bill dropped from $8-900/month to $400/month. Before the monitor evidence, the heating contractor had just blown my complaints off.
