Yes I powered off the GEM before detaching the Ribbon cable.
Wireless is off. However it was not off when I 1st configured the GEM with EtherX and it found the MAC address no problem.

I am just looking at the pic I attached. Should those pins be short?

Make sure it's powered down, and double check to make sure the pins are aligned when the ribbon cable is plugged back in.
There's a similar manual online, but the one I attached isn't available yet online.
EDIT: Was just informed a similar document is online. Sorry about that.

With the PB, is it possible the stem is broken? It does look like from the first picture you do have the button, it should stick out the bottom of the GEM:
If so, the one thing you can try is with an object with a point, push the button in and power up the unit.
The left LED will go red, this will cause the GEM to go into firmware mode. The outcome of this will be the GEM is fully disabled, so it won't interfere with the Ethernet module.

Ok apparently I am a doofus because I mounted the panel too low and I am fat and lazy I did not see the PB underneath.
It is not broken.
I powered it up while holding the PB. Orange led on the GEM. Still cant find it with EtherX or see it with an IP address in the DHCP leases.

I installed the new ethernet module tonight and it goes active for about 1 minute, pingable, led activity..................then the led lights go out and I cant ping it. I can reproduce the problem over and over by removing the power supply a reinserting it. Is it possible I have put the GEM in another mode from my previous troubleshooting?
