Is it possible to measure DC with say a Micro-40 CT ?
I wish to measure say 20 amps DC,
I have tried to measure 20amps DC with the Micro-40 hooked up to a multimeter with no luck. Am I barking MAD ????
Can it be done and what voltage should I expect ?
Is there diodes on the output of the CT's or can I ran them in any direction ?
Cheers

Re: Measuring DC
Only hall-effect CTs can measure DC current. The standard method is to insert a shunt resistor and read the mV from the shunt.flymans wrote:Is it possible to measure DC with say a Micro-40 CT ?

The Micro-CTs generate an AC voltage, if you want to read that AC voltage with the multimeter, you'd have to hook it up to the AC mA input.
