Can I purchase a serial only ECM1240 now and add an Xbee module later on to get wireless connectivity?
Can I use my own Xbee Zigbee controller (Series 2.5)?

The Xbee ECM-1240 uses different firmware and requires re-calibration to accept the module.
By controller, do you mean Gateway? If so, you can but you'll have to contact us via email for the settings.

Re: Add Xbee later
Hi Ben,
I am thinking of building a Zigbee network for some home automation stuff using xbee. Could the ECM1240 be part of my Zigbee network if I purchased the wireless version of the ECM1240?

I'll have to speak with some others here, maybe we can configure the Xbee module for your PAN.
