Should consumption match the mains wattage?

Post by jarrod817 » Sun Jan 14, 2024 8:19 pm

Hello,

I have 1 GEM we have 22 breakers and all are connected to the GEM. But I naively assume that the mains consumption would match the amount consumed by all the other breakers. It seems that the system thinks I'm consuming 6K watts but only using around 1K of it.

Channel 31 is the mains, all the larger 240 breaker are channels 17-22.

Any ideas for where I should look?

I would first check to make sure you don't have a 240V circuit wired incorrectly. If the CTs aren't reversed then they'll cancel from eachother.

Easy way to check is to remove one set of leads from the GEM, if the value increases then reverse the leads and plug them back in.
