Windows 10 Problems

Post by az99 » Sun Nov 29, 2015 9:39 am

I am attempting to use my ECM-1240 with my new Win 10 computer. Nothing works. The engine software fails opening looking for file ECM 1. The USB driver will not install at all. I can not get communication to the Engine software or the IA software.

Please Help

What Serial-to-USB cable do you have? I'll see if there's an updated driver.

Have you tried the Engine software in compatibility mode?

It is the cable you sent with my kit. It says on it-GEARMO FTDI-8

I did not try comparability mode. Using the provided desktop shortcut, it says it can't be found then brings up a screen to select the program. Then after you close out of the prompts to find it, the Engine program appears.

I did not think of looking for a driver by the MFG. The Gearmo driver worked but I had to run it in compatibility mode. The IA Program works in Win 10. But I will need to do more with the Engine program and dash board.
I will report back.

OK got it. The Engine software and the Mfgs. USB driver software had to be set to Win 7 compatibility mode.
The IA software and dashboard software worked without modification.

Thanx for leading me in the right direction.

Glad to hear you got it working. When we have a bit more time, I can see if Paul can get the Engine working with Windows 10 natively.

Looks like there's some Windows 10 drivers for the FTDI chipset here: http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm
