New install and need help

Post by Okie69 » Sat Jul 11, 2015 2:56 pm

I just received my GEM and Dashbox. This is for a residential install. I read through the included instructions, and am now confused.

1) I have split 200 ct's and micro 80 ct's. Are these Type A or Type B? I can't find it anywhere and it seems to make a huge difference on the install.

2) Do I install the 2 split 200's on the 2 main feed lines in opposite directions? Then do I install them on channel 1? If so please state exactly which number the 4 wires would connect to.

3) On the double pole (220v) breakers I will install 2 micro 80's. Do I install these in opposite directions also? Please state exactly which number the 4 wires would connect to.

Thanks in advance. This will get me started and there will be questions.

- The split 200 CT's are Type A, Micro 80 CTs are Type B this information is listed on page 18 of the install manual.

2) Do I install the 2 split 200's on the 2 main feed lines in opposite directions? Then do I install them on channel 1? If so please state exactly which number the 4 wires would connect to.

- The two split 200 CT's are normally installed on the primary feeds and yes they should be installed in the opposite direction. This information is listed on page 20 of the install manual with graphics for your review. One set will go into the PJ 1&2, the other CT will go into the same channel terminal block of 3&4.

3) On the double pole (220v) breakers I will install 2 micro 80's. Do I install these in opposite directions also? Please state exactly which number the 4 wires would connect to.

- You have two choices here if the 220 / 240 circuit does NOT have a neutral you may use 1 CT via the software doubling feature. Or use both CT's to monitor both 120 feeds for more accuracy and they will be inserted into PJ 2&3.

If using two CTs and you notice the energy readings are zero. Simply remove one set of leads and reverse them because they are cancelling the data out. Page 27 will explain how to orientate the CT (K Source vs L Load)

Thanks in advance. This will get me started and there will be questions.

Thanks for the help. That will get me started.

I do not have the pages that you referenced. I have the "GEM Quick Guide" and it only has 9 pages. Where can I get the full manual?
