New Solar - How to setup main channel to show incoming and outgoing?

Post by manyhats » Fri Aug 25, 2023 6:10 pm

Just had solar panels with an inverter, feeding the main panel.
The system is tied to the grid, so any excess produced is sent out.

I didn't get CTs on the inverter breakers yet, but I do have them in the main feed from the grid.
Would like to have the Main channel (main panel breaker) in my dashbox to show positive or negative numbers depending if we are taking from the grid or feeding into it.
How to do this?
Thanks

Under Settings->Energy Monitors on the DashBox, click "DashBox Settings" then set the channel to "Net". It'll create a new channel called "<Channel Name> Gen".

The Gen channel will show what you're looking for.

Hi Ben

I did that, and also added CTs to the inverter.
But the power generated and sent to the grid is still being ADDED as a consumption on the Incoming Gen channel.
I tried wih the "reversed" setting both On and Off.

Please tell me what i'm doing wrong.

Thanks

Do you also have the "Net" enableed for the CT Setting for CH1? (The CT setting is showing Channel 31)

Yes, that did it. I set the Main CT to net, and got negative values when feeding the grid.

One last question: the "Total Consumption" number shown is always equal to the Main/Incoming channel... how can I get a total of the channels doing actual consumption, regardless if fed by the grid or solar?

I guess it would be the difference between the Main and the inverter...

Thanks for your help

Total Consumption is the sum of everything marked as "Main" under DashBox Settings on the monitor. You could try Inverter Gen and Incoming normal (the hidden channel).
