GEM not responding...

Post by TonyPh12345 » Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:14 am

My GEM went AWOL last night around 6:00pm CDT.

It's not responding to pings, and the DashBox says "No Recent Packets" and the live data page is all blanked out.

I powered it off, waited 10 seconds, and powered it back on. The status LEDs are Left: Green with a red blink every 5-6 seconds. Right: Amber.

Where should I start the investigation? I've made no configuration changes in months.

GEM sounds normal.

How are you sending to the DashBox?
What f/w is the DashBox at (in the footer of the dashboard)?

If STS connected, check under Settings->System->Change Baudrates.

Well, crap. Half of my WiFi (2.4Ghz SSID) is down, too. I think that's the problem but have to wait to troubleshoot because my wife is using the 5GHz stuff for something time sensitive.

Thanks for turning me to face the correct direction, cuz I wouldn't have noticed the WiFi being the issue unless I needed to use an Echo or something.

Will update soon.

(*face-palm*)

Yep, the injury was self-inflicted. Installed new FW in the WiFi access point which (strangely) wiped its config clean. I misspelled the IoT network SSID.

It became more obvious when I plugged in an Echo Dot and it flashed strange colors indicated the WiFi network wasn't functioning.

Sorry to have wasted your time!

NP, at least it was an easy fix.
