I suggest setting up a random email (preferably not GMail as they've been more and more restrictive) and seeing if that improves deliverability.BigBadBuzz wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 1:21 pmBen:
Under Alerts > SMTP Settings, Under Server it shows "Set to Default Settings"

Ok, I'll try that, but FYI I have no issues getting the test message through, or if I enable the "canned" Alert that fires if the overall power usage is greater than 5 watts.

Paul

I changed the SMTP settings to those outlined by the "Outlook" button. I now have email set for the Outlook email address as well as the address I normally use. The result is the same - I get test messages but no emails are generated if I disconnect the serial cable so that the Dashbox doesn't get packets.

Paul

Can you take a screenshot of your alert setup and either post it here or email it to me? The alerts, not the email settings.BigBadBuzz wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 9:04 pmI changed the SMTP settings to those outlined by the "Outlook" button. Can you try changing Repeat to Every 15 Minutes?

I was sure hoping that would be it - but alas, it doesn't appear to be. I changed the Repeat setting to Every 15 minutes, then unplugged the GEM serial cable from the Dashbox. I left the cable unplugged for > 20 minutes, but never received an email alert. The email log shows no sign of the Dashbox trying to send an email.

Ben:
I saw on another post you sent to try firmware v4_2_4b12; I did, and now Loss of Communication Alerts appear to be working. As I also said in that post, unfortunately I had the conditions to test the Alert because my GEM had once again changed it's COM1 baud setting from 115200 to 19200. I was able to change it back, but because I didn't have the Alert working, I lost another 5 or so days of data. Why is the GEM doing this?

If GEM-side, what COM version are you on? I'll have Paul investigate.

Ben:
GEM side. COM = 5.13, ENG = 1.49. I received an Alert email yesterday morning from the DashBox saying it had lost communication with the GEM, but by the time I saw the email and checked on the DashBox, it was receiving packets again.
