GEM resets to COM2 19200 automatically - Billing Issues
I don't know what is causing it to reset, but it even reset COM1 to 19200 after trying to set up the system. I was only able to find the problem by hooking it up to ethernet and manually connecting to the GEM. I'm not sure what is causing it, but it resets to the 19200 and makes COM2 unusable, then when I was trying to connect to GEM through dashbox, it caused it to switch to 19200. Is the dashbox sending something to the GEM to cause it to reset?
Logging had data of 13kwh used and now it's down to 5kwh used. I followed all set up instructions multiple ways, so I'm wondering if I created issues. Never was able to get data reporting to working through ethernet, but I did have the RS-323 still connected between them when I tried to switch it over.
Any insights are appreciated, burned a few hours on this thing today.
Edit: I eventually gave up and set the dashbox to 19200 baud rate.
Edit2: I came back to another error with the baudrates in the GEM set to 115200, so it seems to the switching back and forth. Switching the dashbox to match the change in rate works temporarily and then the GEM switches to the baud rate that isn't used. Any connection is temporary.
I'm also having issues with the billing unable to save a rate. I've tried on IE, Firefox, Chrome, and Mobile with no luck.
Thanks

Is this a new unit? If it's older, check the power supply versus the notice at https://www.brultech.com/contact. The bad power supply we had before can cause some memory corruption.
What COM F/W is the GEM running?
I'll check out the DashBox issue.
EDIT: Let me know your DashBox F/W version also. It's in the footer of the page.

Hey there Ben,
Yeah it's a new unit.
I can't really tell if it keeps switching, but I tried to loging through the dashox and I got the attached connection. Every time it tries to send a packet it adds more lines of code. I was then able to login through the GEM ethernet connection port 8000 and confirm that baud rates were not matching, so I made them match. Before I attempted to login to the GEM the status seemed fine, then it had an error after trying to connect through the dash box. Then I made the connection through the ethernet on the GEM to match baudrates.

Switch to RS232 #2 on the DashBox, we've found a recent bug that we think has to do with our new RF module implementation. Trying to reproduce it locally.bidiet wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 3:57 pmHey there Ben,

What happens is we do an RF test when you go to the setup page which involves dropping the baud, doing the test, and bringing it back to normal. If the test fails we hide the RF module settings. I'm going to change this to only do it when you click the RF settings page instead of hiding the menu option. The constant switching may be causing issues.

okay I'll give that a shot, the KWH reading has reset itself again, is this typical to do after changing COM ports?
Is there any known issues with the billing/khw cost as well? It's sort of greyed out in the boxes like it doesn't want to accept inputs. Whenever I type everything in, the submit button does nothing.

The billing issue, the rates save on our testbox and I'm not seeing any issues with your inputs. Does clicking Save Rate do nothing?

Ah I see the it is the daily rate. In the top left corner.
Yes, I type it everything or just the rate and try to hit save and nothing saves down below.-

That value is daily kWh used, controlled by all channels marked as "Main" under Settings->Energy Monitors. It should only increase (not decrease) unless you were to change those channels marked as Main.
What web browser is that? I'll test it out here.
What F/W version is in the bottom footer of the DashBox also (in the middle)?

I've used firefox, chrome, and safari on Mac and then a couple on windows. Nothing seems to be inputting.
I don't see anything in the middle for the dashbox.

Any pie graphs showing up on Overview? If there's one (or more) the rate was saved but isn't showing up.
The rates list is populated by an AJAX call, I'm wondering if that's being blocked.
If no pie graph I'll send over the latest B version to try out.
