Additionally, I tried updating the firmware back to the latest (v5.13), but once I do that the IP changes to 192.168.11.3 again. Once that happens, I'm again unable to modify the IP settings. The only way it lets me change the IP settings is if I go back to v4.31 of the firmware.

The baud rate listbox in your screenshot is empty. Can you try setting it to 115200 when you save settings?

Try using the other tool to configure it, check all the tabs for any garbage values.

Ben,

That fixed it. Baud rate was set to 57,600 somehow. Once I changed that, I could again access the GEM directly via a web browser.

Here are a few observations for my particular WizNET adapter, in case anyone else struggles with this:

1. It doesn't like WizNET firmware version 5. Any time I upload a version 5 firmware (tried 5.10, 5.11 and 5.13), the IP address automatically changes and won't allow you to change it back. Downgrading to a version 4 firmware is the only way to change the IP. I'm currently running v4.32 and it seems stable.

2. Downgrading from v5 to v4 changes the baud rate when the firmware update completes. It also changes the ports to port 5000.

3. The MAC address of my board has changed twice from what it was when I purchased my GEM. Not sure why or how that happens.

Thank you, Ben, for the tremendous help!
