I am on 1.61
Start by removing the battery while powered.
I would follow this procedure:
- Remove power from the unit.
- Hold down the button at the bottom of the unit.
- Power up the unit, the Sys LED should be red.
- Open the GEM Network Utility.
- Set the Baud Rate to 19200.
- Connect to the GEM.
- Go to the Firmware tab.
- Checkmark Recovery Mode.
- Select the latest COM firmware.
- Start the firmware upload.
If at any point it stalls, you need to start from step 1 as the old recovery mode gets stuck if it gets a bad byte in.
Then once loaded,
- Connect at 115200 as it'll likely switch with the GEM Network Utility.
- Do a Get GEM Info.
- Set Factory Defaults.
- Set Hardware Option to Ethernet-only (old).
- Unplug the unit, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in to clear old flags in memory.
- Re-connect and do another Get GEM Info to make sure they stuck.
- Drop the baud rate to 19200, re-connect at 19200.
- Select the latest ENG firmware.
- Load that firmware.
Once it boots back up,
- Connect at 19200
- Try Get GEM Info, if you can't access switch to 115200.
- If it's at 19200, set the baud rate to 115200.
- Try the Ethernet section to see if it can pull information from the Ethernet module
If that all works, you're good to go.
