Re: Gem no network lights
That's my issue I have a red light but no lights on rj45 so the discovery tool doesn't see it. Also the managed network switch doesn't see it.

But the RJ45 works with the original power supply still? Does it show up when using that one?jaycanter wrote:That's my issue I have a red light but no lights on rj45 so the discovery tool doesn't see it. Also the managed network switch doesn't see it.

Alright, at this point it sounds like at worst the Ethernet module is dead. The GEM sounds like it just needs to be updated.jaycanter wrote:My switch will light up but doesn't give address and discovery tool Still doesn't see it.

Do you have a Serial-to-USB cable or a laptop/computer with a serial port? Maybe we can update the GEM via the Serial header and get life back into that Ethernet module.
There's Tx, Rx, GND left of the Ethernet module that can be plugged into.

I do have a serial to USB but it's a plug in, not wires to connect to the terminals. Will have to check an 9ld laptop when I get home. Do I use the discovery software still?

Windows will assign a COM port. Use the GEM Network Utility and the Serial option. You can get a list of COM ports under there.jaycanter wrote:I do have a serial to USB but it's a plug in, not wires to connect to the terminals. Will have to check an 9ld laptop when I get home. Are you in North America? If so email me your shipping address and I'll get Tammy to send you a new power supply and DB9 cable.jaycanter wrote:But how do I connect to the pins? Do I have to cut the plug off the cable? I think it's called a db9 to USB 8s what 8 have
