Err 2?

While looking into getting another GEM, I today set-out to fix my Dashbox, which hasn't been working since before Christmas. So I pulled the disk, ran a check on it, put it back, got it to start, upgraded the firmware to 4.2.3c7h.

Then I updated also the GEM, to GEM_C_Firmware_4.33_.fmw.

Now, my openhab/btmon instance can still poll the GEM, but the Dashbox says there's an error.

Dashbox detects the GEM on the serial port, but no data is coming.
So I checked the GEM webpage over dashbox port 8002 (I'm on the second serial port), and it is really tricky to do anything - one have to be very quick to enter setup mode and press the sub-page (within a second or so).

I got this information on status page, indicating error 2, and sys error.

Hello Micael,

Some items to check and confirm in no specific order of importance or relevance:

Dash Box

- Settings -> Admin Settings -> Data Logging = Enabled

- Settings -> Admin Settings -> Change Baud Rate = 115200 Both the GEM & Dash Box should match for what ever COM you have linked to the DB.

- Settings -> Energy Monitors -> Dash Box Settings = Ensure any *Main* is selected and enabled.

GEM Setup

- Ensure in the GEM it set for Bin48 NET Time under the Packet Send tab.
- Advanced -> COM Flow 1 & 2 = Disabled

Well that made all the difference! Data Logging where disabled, once enabled everything comes back online in the dashbox.

I still have the errors in GEM though.

Thanks!
Micael

Hello Micael,

That's great to hear the DB is back up and running. I am not too sure about the error 2 it could be referencing the battery.

Could you power down the GEM and remove the coin cell. Once removed power up the GEM wait about 10 seconds than insert the coin cell back.

Once that is done power cycle the GEM again by unplugging both the PT and PSU outlets.

When the GEM comes back up let me know if error 2 goes away.

Lastly, please do confirm in the GEM Network Utility that all hardware matches what your GEM has in place.

Will the settings stay even without the coin cell? I really don't want to loose all settings.... :?

Hello Micael,

In the GEM Network Utility Tool you have the option to save all programming and settings to your computer. So you can do that part first so you have a back up just in case. Having said this, normally removing the coin cell will just delete the minute / hour data in the GEM.

No pressure to do any of the above steps if you wish to await for Brultech to reply.

Err2 will cause random lock ups so you'll want to clear that flag.

By removing the coin cell battery , the only thing you'll lose is your counter values. All settings are stored.

Make sure you remove the coin cell when powered on, and put it back in when powered on.
