Hi,
Just got a new GEM and Dashbox. I've been able to setup the dashbox, and connect the GEM. In trying to setup the GEM, the PT voltage is being displayed as 220.5 volts, when the actual voltage to the PT is 121.3. Do I need to change the PT type and range to get the correct voltage, and if so, what values do I use for the type and range?

Re: PT voltage settings
Rather than delete my post, I thought I would follow up for the benefit of others.
The PT was not fully inserted into the jack on the GEM. Once I fully inserted it, voltage being reported is spot on.

Re: PT voltage settings
For the benefit of others in the future (IF) you had to make an adjustment to obtain the most accuracy you would have adjusted the PT Type up/down.
With respect to your true RMS DMM . . .
Also note once you have the PT transformer inserted into the outlet you don't want to reverse its orientation. Doing so will invert the polarity of the voltage the PT transformer will see in the GEM.

Re: PT voltage settings
Teken,
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me.
The voltage the GEM is displaying is the same as I get from my mm (yes, it is true RMS, your posts have taught me that. ) Am I understanding correctly, that (IF) in the future there is difference between the actual voltage at the receptacle and what GEM is seeing from the PT, then I would adjust the PT type up or down to match the receptacle voltage?

Re: PT voltage settings
Yes, that is correct keeping in mind a +/- 1.0 volt is expected. But normally you will see better than +/- 0.1 - 0.5 VAC variance.rlcrook wrote:Teken,

In my setup I see a consistent 0.1 variance from my Fluke meter and this assumes its not just because the GEM is slower to update the values in the display.
In the real time tab in the GEM's setup page by default its set for 8 second refresh which can be changed to 1-2 seconds to see if its the refresh rate. Again, the level of accuracy is so close its a none issue and many of the more expensive units don't even come close.
I've used some of the very expansive Eaton / Schneider $2500 - 8000.00 units and they still didn't come that close to the GEM!
