I was doing some work on my GEM and found the STA and AP mode page settings are different from what i expect the AP / STA mode to be - I agree it is very confusing.dexterdom wrote:I got it to work with a static IP but it's actually in STA mode, not AP mode.
I assume that is ok? It survives a reboot and I can get to the GEM setup on 8000 using that IP so functionally it seems fine.
To go further i assumed AP = "gem acts as access point" and STA = "GEM acts like a PC connecting to a wifi network" however the settings pages would seem to indicate this is flipped. What was really freaky was when it was in STA mode it was sending DHCP requests for the IP addr configured on the AP setting page (which my DHCP server rightly NACKd) - this stuff was super confusing to me. And i thought i was an IP guru, guess not....
