GEM direct to Browser ?

Post by bgrubb1 » Sun Dec 13, 2015 8:18 pm

My DB is connected to my GEM via serial
The Gem is feeding the DB via Net-48-Bin on the second feed
The primary feed used to feed SEG, no more due to the $$
Can there be a way to have the GEM feed the real time data to a local browser ?? Or does that exist ??
My DB was down this weekend and it would be great to have a realtime feed without taking the GEM into setup mode and loosing logging

I would further add and expand on this suggestion that the next GEM firmware update allow it to send data to any local / remote resource.

Perhaps once the ISY 994 Series Controllers 5.XX becomes RC. The node deployment will resolve this issue as it will allow a RPi to act as a node server and hence still see and track the energy, temp, pulse, voltage readings.

Can't wait for 5.XX to become a Release Candidate!

A nice feature would be to have the Gem send the data to a ISY with the Electricity Module via other than the ZigBee. Since the ISY can only support one card, Zwave or ZigBee, but not both. I know this would be an effort from both Brultech and UDI. This is something that they should really look at. I gave up on the Zigbee in favor of the Zwave card. I know that you can send the data to the ISY as a variable but it doesn't interface with the UDI Electricity Module. The benefit of the UDI Electricity Module has some nice displays and accumulation totaling. Also it would then interface with Mobilinc power display. Just some thoughts

The ISY only supports GEM data via the Zigbee module for the Electricity Module. The TCP version is ECM-1240 only, and limited to 1 device.

We looked at implementing Device Nodes on the GEM itself, but as-is we're not sure if that'll be possible due to each node requiring it's own HTTP request (would have to send at least 48 requests per packet).

NodeLink supports our GEM (http://forum.universal-devices.com/topi ... sion-v026/) if you're able to add software to your setup. May be worth a try.

Nodelink works really well and supports multiple packet formats.
