Setup for SEG questions

I've been accessing the GEM on my local network for a few days now.
At the moment, I have the GEM in AP mode. It's connected via Ethernet to my router. I've also set it up to join my local wireless network but haven't tested whether it is doing that. I plan to hard wire the box via Ethernet so the wireless access isn't so important at this point.
I flipped the GEM between AP and STA modes. When in AP mode, the GEM joins my local LAN, acquires an address and I can browse to its config pages. In STA mode, it seems like my PC has to join the GEM's 1.2.3.4 network.
So, in AP mode. I have gone through the config up to the point where I am configuring the GEM for SEG connection in the GEM network utility. I can connect, get the green bar, read the firmware versions (3.25 and 1.49) so all seems good.
I have a yellow light on the Ethernet LED, the system LED is blinking red.
Under the Ethernet tab, when I search, no MAC addresses are appearing. The GEM seems connected in every other way in the network utility app.
So, it seems like I am stuck there until I can get the MAC address showing so I can configure the device for SEG access. Any suggestions?
