Where is the GEM-SET-DB manual please ?

Post by jtoutee » Sun Mar 08, 2015 12:23 am

Hello,
Trying to get my DashBox communicating with my GEM via RS232, no luck (Unknown Devices, No Data)
According to the GEM Configuration Manual, there exist a document:
"Indirect Communication via the DashBox
GEM Setup Via DashBox
GEM-SET-DB"
Could not find it on BrulTech web site...

Hello,

Some basic to follow in case these steps were not done or made aware.

1. Ensure the RS-232 cable is properly attached per the paper manual with the wiring colors indicated.

2. Configure the channel you're using to connect to the DB / GEM to Bin-48-NET-Time with in the GEM's set up page.

3. Under the Advanced tab in the GEM's setup page ensure the COM 2 baud rate match what is in the DB under *Change Baudrate* normally its set for 115200. But you may have find leaving the GEM's COM 2 baud rate at 19200 while the DB is set to 115200 will make it work.

4. In the DB: Systems -> Admin Settings -> Logging Settings. Ensure all box's are enabled, currency changed to 5, log packet to 1 minute.

Let me know if this gets you up and running.

Hi Teken,
Thanks. You steps apparently fixed the issue. Packet format value was 0 instead of Bin-48-NET-Time, COM2 was at 19200 in GEM and 115200 in BD and COM1 Flow was set to disable. In GEM Logging Settings, Watt decimals was disabled and currency was set to 2.
However in GEM setup screen I have an orange error for Sys Status:
Serial#: 01100097
COM firmware ver: 3.25
ENG firmware ver: 1.49
RealTime Status: ON
Packet Send Interval: 8
Pri. Packet Format: 4
Sec. Packet Format: 0
Sys Status: Err1
Any clue ?

Hello Jerome,

Can you please confirm data is showing up on the DB now, after all the global changes have been made?

Next would you please kindly provide a screen shot of the error on the GEM. Please note when inside of the GEM's setup page no data will be transmitted to the DB. Also please ensure you do log out of the setup page and close the browser tab once done.

Err1 should go away with a power cycle. Err1 tells us whether or not the super cap (or battery in the old revision) is drained or close to drained. It sounds like the super cap on the GEM may have drained while in transit. Voltage is only tested upon booting.

If you cycle power, it should go away.

Hi Ben,
Yes data is well showing up in the DashBox.
The power cycle of the GEM did clear the Err1 flag, now it is OK, thanks.
