Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
I have set dhcp to 192.168.1.133 and 1.144 (the first result back when it worked on Saturday). I do use static dhcp for one of the windows computers so it does work. I even set up static dhcp on my second server that I was using for the direct 192.168.2.1 and 2 connection and it works there as well.
I have not seen anything on wireshark since. After rebooting it goes into the 8 red 1 green loop and sometimes it has network activity and sometimes I have to do some of the PB commands to get the network activity to engage. I have also went into recovery mode with network activity.
Nothing shows up on the wiznet search or the gem network utility search.
Thanks.

Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
Does your GEM (main board) have a flat coin battery cell or is it using the super capacitor?
If it's using the coin battery can you please remove it and try the forced recovery mode.
Please report back the details. Steps are outlined above by Ben.

I believe it has the super capacitor. It just arrived Friday so it should be the latest and greatest model.

Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
Hello,
Is the following IP address to the GEM: 192.168.1.133? If you ping the IP address does it reply back? Please confirm do you have a Ethernet only GEM? Or do you have a Wifi / Ethernet combo?

Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
Can you take a picture of your unit? The new GEM-E units have 2 Ethernet ports, one should be blocked off with a sticker.
You want to use the Ethernet port on the red module, not the Ethernet port near the top of the unit. The Ethernet port on the GEM board itself is used with the WiFi/Ethernet module.
If you don't have a red module right beside the GEM board, try going to the "Network" tab of the GEM Network Interface and doing a scan there. You might have a WiFi/Ethernet unit.

Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
Teken: At one point the GEM had claimed a dhcp address of .133. It was not responding to pings. It is ethernet-only.
Ben: I took a ton of pictures but my tablet does not seem to be auto-syncing up to google+ so I will not have access to them until this evening. I am using the ethernet on the red module, it is downward facing. I saw the upper silver box that says ethernet but did not look under the sticker. I did try different network cables last night with no luck.

Alright, and the lights light up on the Ethernet port? Do both lights ever blink on/off at the same time?TaltosDM wrote:Teken: At one point the GEM had claimed a dhcp address of .133. It was not responding to pings. It is ethernet-only.

Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
There's a jumper "SW1" on the red board itself. If you short that connection, and cycle power to the GEM it'll cause a factory reset.

Depending on what sort of resets have been done the ethernet lights will be very sporadic, like one quick blip every ten seconds, or regularly active, where it is green most of the time and the yellow flickers on and off as other network traffic occurs.ben wrote: Alright, and the lights light up on the Ethernet port? I will definitely give this a try tonight and let you know the results.ben wrote: There's a jumper "SW1" on the red board itself. If you short that connection, and cycle power to the GEM it'll cause a factory reset.

Re: No GEM-E on Network Scan
Do I short it while it is up and running and then do a unplug the power supply replug the power supply restart? If so how long does it need to be unplugged?
Or do I short it while plugging it in? If so for how long do I short?
Thanks.
