1 Wire Temperature Problem

Post by Teken » Sat Aug 02, 2014 10:32 pm

Today I started to branch out my 1 wire temperature network. I initially installed two brand new 1 wire sensors outside to obtain the ambient temperature for my area.

One sensor was for the GEM while the other was for the Autelis Bridge. As hard as I tried the GEM would not allow me to add in the new sensor?? :?: Several things I observed where the following.

1. Installing the new sensor would kill the entire 1 wire network on the GEM. Meaning all of the sensor readings went to zero via the live data view within the GEM. Removing the sensor brought everything back to normal.

Installing the second 1 wire sensor caused the same thing??

2. I verified the ROM code through the Autelis bridge and entering both sensors into channel 8 of the GEM would not take.

3. I decided to install the old sensor with the exact same ROM code and what makes no sense is that sensor shows up with a different ROM code now? WTF?? :|

4. I have installed the exact same sensors into the Autelis bridge and they work perfectly fine. The ROM codes always show up exactly the same so I have no clue how the old sensor could have a different value now??

5. Also, when the installing the new sensor with the existing ones in place & selecting the search list all sensors option makes the system freak out and makes all the sensors show up as FF-FF-FF-FF etc??

Below are the screen captures of the existing network ROM codes and from the Autelis Bridge. Please focus on the channel 8 which is the one I am trying to add.

This is what the old sensor ROM code show up this very moment. All ten of these new sensors work perfectly fine in all aspects yet the GEM won't allow me to add any of them with out taking out the entire 1 wire sensor network.

There must be something obvious I am missing here?

I have powered down the GEM while adding the sensors, no joy. I have added the sensor while the GEM was powered, no joy. Below are all of the new sensors in place which also includes the old one in the network.

The first sensor at the top of the list starting with 7300000 was the old sensor I removed from the channel 8 of the GEM. The system won't let me enrol it back and it too, kills the entire network.

I am at a complete loss as to what is going on here.

Paul will take a look at the F/W later on today. I'll send this post to you.

Ben,

I believe COM 3.13 which initially stopped all 1 wire sensors from being seen was the first problem. Later on Paul identified that the package was not properly formatted and hence he sent me a updated COM 3.13 firmware.

I believe the last release may still have a bug. Hence why the removal and addition of new sensors are being impacted.

Much thanks for the quick reply.

Might be a capacitance problem, Paul is working on it.

Ben,

Its odd this problem is preventing me from adding back an existing 1 wire sensor that was removed only moments ago that day? :?

Regardless, I am looking forward to a fix!
