GEM Setup Utility

Post by bgrubb1 » Fri Jun 06, 2014 10:08 am

I tried to upgrade my GEM last weekend and crashed and burned.
I have tracked the issue back to the new PC I used
Went back to my old one and everything works fine.
With the new PC I can launch the utility and connect, but cant "Get GEM Info" or "Open in Browser"
timeout error
both PC's are running Win 8.1
I have made sure windows firewall is off, and disabled Mcafee's firewall
Any other suggestions ??

If you can get a TCP connection to the GEM, there shouldn't be any problem sending those commands. Can you confirm that the "Listening" box turns to "Connected" at the top right?

What comm. module is it using? If it's Ethernet or WiFi, it's likely because of the "Idle Time" setting. That setting tells the module to disconnect if there's X seconds of activity.

Without idle time, you're stuck with a persistent connection and will not be able to access the GEM setup page.

Well working now mostly
Port was set to 80, but server port is 8000 changed to 8000 and all works (mostly)
I tried to upgrade ENG firmware to 1.48. Changed baud rate to 19.2 and tried to change to firmware upgrade mode, save button didn't work. Did the upgrade and it hung at 79%.
Based on that I could still talk to the GEM, but it wasn't updating. Tried a second time and still couldn't save firmware upgrade mode, but upgrade worked.
